Activists are using social media to organize a “Day of Anger” against President Donald Trump and his allies in the Labor Department, according to an online petition.
Organizers say they’re calling for people to “disrupt” government and take over public space in the New York City area on Saturday, November 18, with a rally in Manhattan.
The day’s protest is part of the movement’s “Day Of Rage,” a day of action in which the leftwing protesters will march in more than 100 cities around the country, with rallies scheduled for the same locations on Saturday.
Organizer Sam Kohn says the protest is “designed to bring attention to the systemic racism, sexism, classism, imperialism and neoliberalism that Trump represents,” as well as his administration’s “unfair, anti-democratic, and repressive policies.”
The petition is now almost 500 signatures, which have been verified by The Associated Press.
“It’s a day for everyone to come together to demand that Trump’s racist, misogynistic, imperialist, and authoritarian policies end,” the petition reads.
“We are calling on you to do the same.
This is a time to demand the removal of Trump and the corporate media that is serving his interests.”
The protesters have also set up a “call-in” hotline to call for more information on the day’s actions.
The organizers of the protest say the call-in is open to anyone who has been a victim of sexual assault or domestic violence, or who is a person of color.
They are also urging people to join them in their call-ins, in addition to other events planned across the country.
“The day of rage is coming, and it is an expression of the outrage and anger that millions of Americans are feeling,” Kohn told The Associated Post on Friday.
“This is a day to demand Trump’s firing and impeachment.”
