A recent report from the Bureau of Indian Standards, a US agency, has revealed that India’s road safety infrastructure is far from up to scratch.

According to the latest data from the Indian Roads and Transport Corporation, there were 2,069 road traffic deaths in 2016, a decline of 8 per cent from the previous year.

The numbers for the total number of road traffic accidents in India rose by 6.4 per cent, from 1,066 to 1,054.

India’s roads are among the worst in the world, with some sections being rated as among the deadliest in the developed world.

India has been hit by a spate of deadly accidents in recent years, with more than 600 people killed in accidents over the last five years.

The latest statistics from the US government show that in 2016 the number of fatalities in India was 7,856, compared to 2,632 in 2015.

In India, there are several reasons for the lack of safety infrastructure.

India is home to nearly 1.3 billion people, which is spread across an area of more than 11,000 square kilometers.

There are also nearly 2,300 railway stations, and more than 2,400 road works.

The number of vehicles is a major contributor to road traffic.

The Indian National Highway and Highways Authority of India (INHRAI), however, has been criticised for failing to provide sufficient information to road users.

The data from 2016 indicates that a total of 5,085 roadworks were completed between 2014 and 2016, which was a 7 per cent increase from the 1,093 projects that were completed during the same period in 2015, the report said.

“This suggests that the INHRA I has failed to meet its mandate in terms of transparency and accountability,” ANI spokesperson Pankaj Srinivasan told Business Standard.

The INH, which oversees Indian roads, has also been criticised in the past for failing in providing the public with accurate information on the safety of its roads.

In 2014, the Delhi government announced a $3.7 million fund to improve safety on India’s roads.

The fund, however, was not implemented and the number killed during the period was also not reported.

The government has also said that it will be conducting a study into the safety infrastructure of India’s highways.
